The USS Irex Ship's Party, 1954

A photo provided by Robert A. Laurie. The 1954 photo shows the attendees at a ship's party (purpose unknown). That's Bob with the s*-e* grin crouched front center—the seaman wearing blues. Bob came aboard as a SN1 on 7 November 1955, and left on 7 March 1957 as a TM3 (SS). Consequently, although on the photo is written “1954 Ships Party USS Irex” that would be wrong if he came aboard in 1955. His last duty was as a Naval Reserve Instructor in New Haven. He retired to Satsuma, Florida, in order to enjoy the sun and do some fishing.
