Fred Reising sent pictures of the Irex at the time the boat visited Monaco, which was in January or February 1956. This shot, I presume, is of the Irex entering harbor. The Irex had left New London on 5 January to relieve the Bergall in the Sixth Fleet. The Irex had suffered some forward superstructure damage during heavy seas and had headed for Valencia. The next port of call was Monaco.
Here is shown the Irex tied up inboard of the Grenadier. Crew members stood at attention forward and aft of the sail, which is barely visible in this shot.
